3 festive holiday drinks straight from a Fargo mixologist

FARGO – Proof Artisan Distillers’ Andrea Anderson, lead mixologist, gives a couple simple and festive holiday drink recipe ideas.

Both of Andrea’s drink recipes call for making an apple cider by adding spices and mulling to make your own creation. The recipe was quick and easy, and as a bonus, makes your house smell wonderful.  Andrea’s spice suggestions are cinnamon sticks, dried orange peel, whole clove and whole allspice. This part of the recipe is non-alcoholic so anyone can enjoy the cider.

Apple cider recipe

½ gallon of apple cider

3 cinnamon sticks

1 tsp. whole clove

1 tsp. whole allspice

1 tsp. dried orange peel

Directions: Combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer for 25-35 minutes.

The next two (alcoholic) recipes are simple and sure to be a hit at any holiday gathering. Both recipes use 2DOCKS Fire by Proof, the distillery’s cinnamon flavored whiskey. The first recipe is for Mulled Cider and is served warm. The Mulled Cider Mule is served chilled.

Cinnamon stick for garnish if desired

Directions: Combine the above ingredients in a festive mug.

Mulled Cider Mule

Splash of chilled cider on top

Directions: Combine ingredients over ice in a copper mule cup if you have one available, if not any mug or glass will do.
