Mother of dead 4-month-old jailed on Foster County charge
JAMESTOWN, N.D. -- A woman facing possible charges in the death of her 4-month-old son was found in contempt of court in an unrelated case in Foster County Tuesday, July 10.
Justice Lange, 25, was sentenced to 10 days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center in Jamestown with five days to be served immediately and five days that can be suspended if she establishes a schedule to pay past due fees and restitution, according to Danielle Beckley, clerk of district court in Foster County.
Lange was hospitalized last week while officials conducted a search for her 4-month-old son. She had reported she had no memory of a four-day period or where she had left her son.The boy’s body was found Saturday in northwest rural Stutsman County in east-central North Dakota. Lange was transported to the Stutsman County Correctional Center Monday evening, and officials have said charges in that case are possible.
Chad Kaiser, Stutsman County sheriff, said his department had not received the autopsy report as of Tuesday morning.
Lange pleaded guilty in 2012 to forgery, a Class C felony. Jail time was suspended at the time of her plea but she was ordered to pay $1,275 in fees and restitution. Court records indicate she had not made any payments toward those costs.
