Bourassa strikes out 17 as West Fargo tops Sheyenne in East Region baseball tournament
VALLEY CITY, N.D.—West Fargo edged West Fargo Sheyenne 3-2 on Thursday in the first round of the North Dakota Class A East Region baseball tournament.
Ryan Bourassa pitched a complete game for the Packers, giving up two earned runs on four hits and one walk with 17 strikeouts. Bourassa had two RBIs, while Dustin Mertz added two hits, including a double. Jacob Faircloth had two RBIs, including the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.
Drew Clouse went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Mustangs.
West Fargo (18-2) advanced to a 4 p.m. Friday semifinal game against Grand Forks Red River. Sheyenne (8-10) will play at 11 a.m. Friday in the consolation semifinals versus Grand Forks Central.
Fargo North 10, Fargo Shanley 0 (5 innings)
Jonas Sanders went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs en route to Fargo North's 10-0 win over Fargo Shanley in the opening round.
Cameron Blazek pitched a complete game shutout, giving up three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts. Brandt Kolpack added two hits and two RBIs for the Spartans.
Dylan Erholtz went 2-for-2 to lead Shanley.
North (14-5) advanced to a 6 p.m. Friday semifinal game against Fargo Davies. Shanley (6-8) will play at 1 p.m. Friday in the consolation semifinals versus Fargo South.
Fargo Davies 14, Fargo South 1
Matt Hagen allowed two hits over four innings for Fargo Davies as the Eagles defeated Fargo South 14-1.
Taylor Parrett went 3-for-3 with four runs and two RBIs to lead Davies, while Kobe Senn added three RBIs.
Wyatt Hanson knocked in Andrew Erickson for South's lone run.
Davies (16-7) will face Fargo North on Friday at 6 p.m. in the semifinals. South (6-9) will play Fargo Shanley at 1 p.m. Friday in the consolation semifinals.
Grand Forks Red River 14, Grand Forks Central 2 (5 innings)
Will Raymond knocked in three runs for Grand Forks Red River in a 14-2 victory against Grand Forks Central in the first round.
Drew Montgomery, Coby Tweten and Zach Carolin each added two hits and two RBIs for Red River.
Parker Stroh and Zack Murphy each had an RBI to lead Central.
Red River (7-5) advanced to a 4 p.m. Friday semifinal game against West Fargo. Central (7-5) will face West Fargo Sheyenne at 11 a.m. Friday in the consolation semifinals.
